UP TO £9,000 GOVERNMENT GRANT AVAILABLE
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Up to £9,000 Government Grant
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government-backed initiative designed to encourage homeowners in England and Wales to replace fossil fuel heating systems with low-carbon alternatives.
If your property is eligible, you’ll receive a grant of up to £9,000, which is deducted directly from your installation cost. You don’t receive the money yourself—your MCS-certified installer claims the grant on your behalf before you pay your final balance.
Are you eligible?
You may be eligible if:
- You own your property.
- You’re replacing an eligible fossil fuel heating system such as oil, LPG or gas.
- Your installation is carried out by an MCS-certified installer.
- Your property meets the current scheme requirements.
If you’re unsure whether you qualify, we’ll check your eligibility during your free consultation.

WHY IT WORKS WELL
Benefits of an Air Source Heat Pump
💷 Lower Heating Bills
Air source heat pumps transfer heat rather than create it, making them far more efficient than traditional oil, LPG and electric heating systems. When correctly designed, they can help reduce annual heating costs.
🏡 Better Comfort
Unlike traditional boilers that quickly heat radiators to high temperatures, heat pumps provide a steady, even level of warmth. This creates a more comfortable indoor environment with fewer temperature fluctuations and improved overall comfort.
🌍 Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Heat pumps produce far lower carbon emissions than fossil fuel heating systems. By switching from oil, LPG or an older gas boiler, you can significantly reduce your home’s environmental impact while future-proofing your heating system.
✅ Government Grant Available
Many homeowners replacing an eligible heating system can benefit from the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, providing a government grant of up to £9,000 towards the installation of an air source heat pump. Our team manages the application process on your behalf, making the transition as straightforward as possible.
🔇Quite and Reliable
Modern air source heat pumps are designed to operate quietly and efficiently throughout the year. With very few moving parts and no combustion process, they require less maintenance than many traditional heating systems while providing dependable heating and hot water.
LEARN MORE
How heat pumps work
How does an air source heat pump work?
An air source heat pump works by extracting renewable heat energy from the outside air—even when temperatures fall below freezing—and transferring that heat into your home’s heating system.
Unlike a traditional boiler, which burns fuel to create heat, a heat pump moves existing heat using a refrigeration cycle. This makes it significantly more energy efficient and can produce three to five units of heat for every unit of electricity it consumes.
The warmed water is then circulated through your radiators or underfloor heating system while also heating your hot water cylinder, providing reliable heating and hot water throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I keep my existing radiators?
Often, yes. Some properties require upgrades to maximise efficiency, but many existing radiators can be retained.
Do heat pumps work in winter?
Absolutely. Modern air source heat pumps continue operating efficiently even when outdoor temperatures fall below freezing.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed within three to five days, although larger or more complex projects may take longer.
Will I save money?
Every property is different. Savings depend on your current heating system, insulation levels, electricity tariff and how the system is designed. A professionally designed heat pump can significantly reduce running costs, particularly when replacing oil or LPG heating.
