Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
Up to £9,000 Government Grant
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government-backed initiative designed to encourage homeowners in England and Wales to replace fossil fuel heating systems with low-carbon alternatives.
If your property is eligible, you’ll receive a grant of up to £9,000, which is deducted directly from your installation cost. You don’t receive the money yourself—your MCS-certified installer claims the grant on your behalf before you pay your final balance.

You may be eligible if:
- You own your property.
- You’re replacing an eligible fossil fuel heating system such as oil, LPG or gas.
- Your installation is carried out by an MCS-certified installer.
- Your property meets the current scheme requirements.
